Police uncover perpetrators of cyberstalking, blackmailing blogs

Abuja, Jan. 7 (AEP News) The Nigeria Police have arrested three suspects in connection with a case of conspiracy, cyberstalking and threat to life.

TheNewsZenith reports that this reaffirms the Force’s commitment to ensuring improved digital and physical safety of Nigerians.

Parading the suspects (name withheld) at the weekend in Abuja, the Force PRO, Olumuyiwa Adejobi gave their ages as 27, 25 and 30 years old.

Adejobi reiterated the determination of the Inspector-General (IGP), Olukayode Egbetokun’s commitment to fight against the menace of cyberstalking, threats to life and blackmailing schemes operating in the guise of microblogging pages.

To this effect, he said the IG set up the Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Centre (NPF-NCCC), which arrested the three suspects concerning a case of conspiracy, cyberstalking and threat to life.

Adejobi said NPF-NCCC, acting on a petition by one Seye Oladejo, apprehended the suspects, who allegedly belong to a syndicate called the “Gistlover family”.

According to him, the syndicate was responsible for the daily running of the Gistlover blog, a microblogging platform.

“The platform is known for cyberstalking, incitement, blackmail and sundry, which have over the years been courses for public outcry.
